Around 6,200 employees at four locations

Focus on the Rhine area

Dormagen is Covestro’s largest site in North Rhine-Westphalia in terms of area and number of employees.

Covestro has four sites in Germany and invests in each of these on an on-going basis. A total of some 6,200 people are employed at the four sites, representing roughly 40 percent of Covestro’s global workforce of 15,700 FTEs (calculated as full time equivalents).

Roughly 5,500 employees work at the Leverkusen, Dormagen and Krefeld-Uerdingen sites in North Rhine-Westphalia, while a further 600 are employed in Brunsbüttel on the North Sea coast.

Just under one-third of Covestro’s global production volume is manufactured in North Rhine-Westphalia. In 2014, this translated into sales of approximately EUR 3.9 billion.

A total of around EUR 1.8 billion has been invested in the four major German production sites since 2001. Besides on-going investments for the maintenance and expansion of production facilities, Covestro is also investing in efficient and sustainable processes. One example is a new production line for CO2-based polyols currently under construction at the Dormagen site. CO2 will be used here to replace a portion of conventional raw materials such as petroleum derivatives.
