Dr. Daniel Koch

Dr Daniel Koch was appointed Managing Director of Covestro’s facilities in North Rhine-Westphalia in July 2018.
Born in Duisburg, Koch studied chemistry at the University of Duisburg and received his doctorate in 1998 at the Max Planck Institute for Coal Research in Mülheim an der Ruhr.

He began his professional career in 1999 at Bayer AG in Dormagen, where he held a number of positions, including laboratory manager and assistant to the Management Board. In 2006, he was appointed manager of a polycarbonate pilot facility in Antwerp (Belgium). This was followed by a two-year appointment as plant manager at a world-scale production facility in Caojing (China). As project lead, he was responsible for the company’s strategic expansion in Shanghai (China) from 2010 onwards.

In 2013, Koch returned to Leverkusen (Germany), where he assumed responsibility for the roll-out of an initiative to improve global plant maintenance at Covestro. From November 2015, his most recent role was manager of the Map Ta Phut facility in Thailand, and he was also appointed Managing Director of Covestro (Thailand) Company Ltd.
